Call for Papers: IST Special Issue on Evaluation of Qualitative Aspects of Intelligent Software Assistants - Submission deadline: 13 December 2026

Special Issue on Evaluation of Qualitative Aspects of Intelligent Software Assistants @ Information and Software Technology Journal - Submission deadline: 13 December 2026

The growing adoption of intelligent software assistants and AI-enabled systems raises important questions regarding their quality, usability, reliability, effectiveness, trustworthiness, and overall interaction with users. This Special Issue brings together researchers and practitioners interested in methods, approaches, empirical studies, and frameworks for evaluating the qualitative aspects of intelligent software assistants.

We welcome high-quality original contributions on the design, assessment, validation, and evaluation of intelligent software assistants and AI-supported software systems.

Potential areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Quality evaluation of intelligent software assistants

  • Usability and user experience of AI-enabled systems

  • Reliability, robustness, and trustworthiness

  • Human–AI interaction and collaboration

  • Evaluation methodologies, metrics, and frameworks

  • Empirical studies of intelligent assistants

  • Software quality models for AI-based systems

  • Explainability and transparency from a quality perspective

  • Effectiveness and efficiency of intelligent assistants

  • Industrial applications and case studies

  • Challenges in evaluating generative AI and AI-assisted software systems

Researchers and practitioners working in these and related areas are warmly encouraged to submit their work.
